All Are Invited – Easter Egg Hunt
Monday, April 21st, 2014

We welcome all to our Easter morning service!
This year our Eco-Friendly Egg hunt features two kinds of eggs: local organic eggs dyed with different kinds of natural dye (an arts and crafts adventure – with no FD&C Red#40 in the lot), and some plant-based “eco eggs” with fair trade chocolate hiding inside. It’s definitely a unique and fun way to do egg hunting. The baskets are all home-made from recycled material as well… and are as cute as can be:
All children (toddlers through 6th grade) are welcome to hunt for eggs. The youth group members will be hiding the eggs, and will gather the children immediately following the Easter morning service to get a basket and get ready to find the eggs!
Join Us On Good Friday!
Tuesday, April 15th, 2014
After Good Friday: Check the Music Samples page to listen to the performance. The full event will soon be posted!
On Good Friday, April 18, at 7pm, the Montclair Presbyterian Church Choir and Montclair Chamber Orchestra will present a performance of the Requiem by Maurice Duruflé. Written in 1946, Duruflé’s Requiem has become one of the most beloved masterworks of choral music. Rooted in the ancient tradition of Gregorian chant and rich with lush, impressionistic French harmonies, the Requiem creates an atmosphere of profound peace and serenity. For this performance, the MPC Choir will be joined by a special treble choir from the Pacific Boychoir.
This performance is free and open to the public; all are welcome. The sanctuary is wheelchair accessible. Parking is available at Thornhill School, a half-block past MPC on Thornhill Drive.

Join Us for Palm Sunday, April 13th!
Thursday, April 10th, 2014
This Sunday is Palm Sunday, when we remember the Story of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a Donkey less than a week before his crucifixion. On Palm Sunday it is traditional for children to enter the sanctuary in a processional, and when you come to Celebration on Sunday, the children will lead us into worship by waving palms and ribbons and by bringing forward their One Great Hour of Sharing offerings.
I hope you will come to see the children of the Church family process, and if you have a child or if you know a child who you think would like to participate in the procession, please bring that child to Celebration a few minutes early. We’d love for him or her to help lead us into worship and into our observation of holy week.

Coming This Sunday, April 6, 2014
Tuesday, April 1st, 2014
This Sunday will mark the first time our new pastor will preside at the sacrament of Holy Communion at Montclair Presbyterian Church. Ours is a congregation that thinks of itself as a family and the Lord’s Supper is meant to be for us a family meal. So come home this Sunday. Be reminded that you are God’s child, a part of God’s family and a part of the family that calls Montclair Presbyterian Church “home.”

Two Important Events this Sunday, March 30th!
Wednesday, March 26th, 2014
ON Sunday, March 30, two important events in the life and work of Montclair Presbyterian Church will be happening. First, during celebration, we will be commissioning the participants in the Indonesia study tour as they prepare to begin a journey of discovery and learning on the islands of Java, West Timor, Alor and Bali. Our best wishes and our prayers travel with them as we send them forth.
Later in the day on Sunday, at 2:30 PM, the Montclair Presbyterian Church family formally will install Ben Daniel, its pastor. The installation of a Presbyterian minister is a moment of high-church drama, with much pomp and quite a bit of circumstance thrown in for good measure; plus there will be opera. This is not an event to be missed.
